Yamaha YZF-R3 India launch on August 11, 2015
Yamaha fans in India can now rejoice! As per a recent report on BikeIndia.in the Japanese bike manufacturer will be launching the YZF-R3 in India on August 11, 2015. The Yamaha R3 is derived from the R25 that is currently sold in the Indonesian market, but gets a more powerful engine to deliver better performance. This news should clear all confusion whether the R3 or R25 will be introduced in the Indian bike market as recent spy pictures doing the rounds on the internet kept the public confused for a while.
The 2015 Yamaha YZF-R3 will gets its juice from a 321cc liquid cooled motor (fuel injected) that bangs out 42 PS of power and 29.6 Nm of torque, coupled to a six-speed transmission. The entry level sports bike features telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock setup at the rear. Twin discs at the front and rear provide the required stopping power. The bike has a kerb weight of 169 kgs and uses a tubular diamond frame setup with 50:50 weight distribution. Apart from its killer looks the YZF-R3 has a top speed of 187 km/hr and a fuel tank capacity of 14 litres.
In the Indonesian market the company offers the YZF-R3 with ABS, but there`s no official confirmation if Yamaha India will offer the Indian-spec with this safety feature. It`s quite possible that the company will provide ABS as an additional option. When launched it will compete with the likes of the KTM RC 390, Benelli TNT 300 and the Kawasaki Ninja 300. The bike is currently manufactured at Yamaha`s plant in Jakarta, and will be imported to India through the CKD route. Expect prices for the YZF-R3 to be in the range of Rs 3 – 3.5 lakh.
