Yamaha to unveil 155cc NMax Scooter at 2016 Auto Expo
Yamaha Motor India has been increasing its share in the very popular scooter segment in the country step by step. The company is moving in the right direction and is committed completely to gain a stronghold in India. It looks like the Japanese two wheeler manufacturer is turning towards the performance segment to make a bigger mark in the industry, along with the usual commuter space off course. Yamaha has just got the NMax design trademarked for our country, meaning that the scooter will launch here in the coming future. The NMax is a premium 155cc scooter and is very performance oriented. The Saluto commuter motorcycle is Yamaha’s main trump card in the 125cc segment.
Anyhow, the Japanese two-wheeler giant retails four scooters in India – Fascino, Alpha, Ray and Ray-Z. Fascino is the latest launch, powered by an 113cc engine and it’s quite pleasing to look at as compared to other similarly priced scooters in the market. The powerful 155cc NMax scooter will not only be Yamaha’s first performance scooter in the country, but also the first by any other manufacturer.
The NMax’s 155cc engine is a single-cylinder four-stroke unit which churns out 15 BHP and 14 Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to a CVT unit and is expected to be launched in the market by the middle of next year. The massive and trendy looking scooter has 13-inch wheels with front and rear disc brakes and a smoked headlamp. All the aforementioned scooters will be showcased at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi and the company aims to sell 1.2 million units per annum by 2017. In FY2017, Yamaha will be bringing a 100cc motorcycle to our shores as well.
