Yamaha India launches Alpha, Ray and Ray Z Scooters with ‘Blue Core’ Technology
With the Indian market overflowing with different two-wheeler companies offering something new every now and then, Yamaha Motor India in order to compete more strongly, has recently revamped its scooter lineup by updating its three scooters- Ray, Ray Z and Alpha with ‘Blue Core’ technology.
Earlier, Yamaha India had offered this technology with other 4 offerings, namely- FZ Version 2.0, FZ-S Version 2.0, Fazer Version 2.0 and SZ-RR Version 2.0. Aimed at reducing power loss and also increasing fuel efficiency, the blue core technology is now offered in Yamaha`s current scooter lineup too. Now, all the three scooters promise to deliver a fuel efficiency of 66 kmpl. Yamaha Motor India has also introduced other features in these three scooters like new Nickel spark plug, new muffler setting and a new BS carburetor which will help in obtaining optimum acceleration and power delivery.
In addition to these mechanical changes, the maximum power and torque figures of the Yamaha scooters remain the same at 7.1 PS and 8.1 NM respectively. The company has also introduced new color options with these scooters— Gleaming Gold for Alpha and Cyan Splash for Ray Z.
With this new technology being offered with the already existing Yamaha scooters, it calls for a price revision too. The revised prices (Ex-showroom, New Delhi) for the three Yamaha scooters mentioned above are:
Yamaha Ray: Rs. 47,805
Yamaha Ray Z: Rs. 48,936
Yamaha Alpha: Rs. 49,939
Lastly, the Vice President of Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd, Roy Kurian, mentioned about these scooters with the new Blue Core Technology, and stated that the company is eyeing around 10 percent share in the fast growing scooter market in India with these three scooter offerings. Currently, they have over five percent market share in the scooter segment, which is pegged at around three lakh units per month. He also said that the success of the Ray, Ray Z and the Alpha scooters are essential to Yamaha to realize its targets in the coming years. With the aim to place the company as a mass-market leader in India, scooters are one main focus area to be able to achieve this. Yamaha is also foreseeing over 50 percent of its sales to come from scooters in the future. Currently, Scooters contribute about 40 percent share towards the company`s total sales figures.
With such targets set in mind, Yamaha India is sure to achieve it slowly and gradually. For the matter of fact, till today, in the Indian market, most of the people do prefer two-wheelers and hence its demand is never ending. With more and more options coming the customer’s way, Yamaha with such interesting technologies and features is sure to grab some brownie points over other competitors.
