The 150cc motorcycle segment is where all the action is nowadays. The competition is tough and every manufacturer is launching new variants of their models. Yamaha is keen to be a part if this upgrade party and will be launching the refreshed FZ-S on June 30.

The FZ series was first launched in 2008 and since then Yamaha has given only additional color options on these models. Now Yamaha is planning to upgrade its FZ series as there is intense competition in this segment. The FZ-S concept was first showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and the production version is expected to look similar to the concept motorcycle. The new FZ-S will replace the current FZ.

The new FZ-S will feature cosmetic upgrades which include a restyled fuel tank, revamped headlights and new design for the air intakes, restyled tail lights, new side panels and a split seat for better comfort. The engine will be the same 153cc, single cylinder air cooled unit which pumps out 14ps and 13.6Nm of torque. We expect Yamaha to tweak the engine for enhanced performance and better fuel efficiency.

There are many options available in the 150cc segment for customers. The FZ-S will have to compete with the Bajaj Discover 150F, Suzuki Gixxer, Honda Unicorn and several other new models which are in the pipe line and getting ready to be launched. The Yamaha FZ-S with it performance, styling and handling will remain a top contender in the 150cc segment.
