Women car rally organised by Maruti Suzuki
India`s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki organised a women`s car rally on July 6th in Pune. This event was organised to ensure participation from more women in Motorsports.
Eighty two teams participated in the Rally which was based on “Time Speed Distance” spread over a distance of 120Kms in and around Pune. Each participant would have a navigator who would guide the driver with the navigation book provided. The navigator has to calculate the time based on the speed and distance mentioned in the navigation book. There were hidden check points in the route to ensure that the participants didn’t take a shorter route or cross the prescribed speed limit.
The Overall winners of the rally were Archana Khinvasara who was driving a Maruti Suzuki Ritz along with navigator Vivek Khinvasara followed by Priya Joshi and Vrushal Joshi in a WagonR. Women car rallies provide opportunity for women motorsport enthusiasts and are a good platform to gauge their preparedness for bigger rallies – like Maruti Suzuki Raid-de-Himalaya and Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm. Maruti Suzuki has been a part of motorsports since the last two decades.
