Everyone is waiting with bated breath for the Launch of Zest and Bolt from TATA Motors. Both these products could change the way Indian consumers perceive TATA products. Right from the time when these two cars were displayed at the Auto Expo 2014 there has been a tremendous hype around these products.

The reason for the Hype around these cars is that for the first time TATA Motors has displayed products which feature latest design cues, upgraded interiors and a feature list that could make competitors run for cover. The launch date has not yet been revealed by TATA.

A quick glance at the feature list that the Zest has to offer:-

  • First in class F tonic diesel AMT.
  • 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol engine codenamed Revotron with multidrive mode.
  • DRLs (Day time running lights).
  • LED tail lamps.
  • Touch screen multimedia system from Harman.
  • SMS readouts and voice recognition.

A quick glance at the feature list that Bolt has to offer:-

  • Revotron 1.2 litre turbocharged engine with first in class multi drive mode.
  • Touch screen multimedia system from Harman.
  • Projector headlamps.
  • Speed dependent volume control.
  • Rugby shoulder seats.

The petrol and diesel power plants on the Zest and Bolt will be offered with manual and AMT transmissions. The Zest would be the first compact Diesel sedan in India to come with an AMT (Automated manual transmission). It would directly compete with the likes of Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze in the compact sedan space. If TATA gets the pricing right for both these capable products they could have a winner on hands. Do you think the Zest and Bolt have what it takes to become segment leaders?
