Will Zest and Bolt resurrect TATA`s fortunes?

Tata Motors sales have been on the decline since the last two years with no new launches happening and most of the product line being outdated. Things might soon change at TATA Motors.

TATA Motors plans to bring out new models in the coming years and with launch of the compact sedan ZEST and hatchback  BOLT just round the corner we can surely say “ Ache Din aane wale hai” for Tata Motors.

Tata Motors commercial and passenger vehicles sales (including exports) in May 2014 were 37,525 a decline of 24% over 49,304 vehicles sold in May 2013. Domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for May 2014 stood at 34,334 which is a decline of 24% over 45,430 nos. sold during May last year.


We expect the ZEST and BOLT to change the image of TATA. Both cars were previewed at this year`s Auto expo and they garnered a lot of attention. Both the cars would come with a 1.2 litre Revotron turbo charged petrol engine developing 85ps of power and 140 nm of torque between 1,750 and 3,000 rpm. The petrol engine would be mated to five speed AMT gear as well as a manual gear box. The ZEST sedan would be the first diesel engine car in its class to feature an AMT gear box. We expect the tried and tested 1.3 diesel motor from Fiat to perform duties on both the cars diesel variants.

Both cars feature modern design cues and refreshed interiors with class leading features. TATA has also been working closely with Indian F1 racer Narain Karthikeyan and his inputs have been taken in the development and testing of the Zest and Bolt. We hear that TATA has really worked on the dynamics and well as the efficiency and performance of these cars.

Tata is optimistic the compact sedan Zest will lift its fortunes just the way Amaze did the trick for Honda in India.
