Will Honda score a hat trick with Mobilio in India

Mobilio is going to be the second launch from Honda India in 2014 after the all New City was launched earlier this year. Both the earlier launches of Honda “the Amaze and New City” have received phenomenal response in the Indian market and we expect a similar reception for the Mobilio.

With the Mobilio`s launch inching closer Honda India`s official site has been updated with pictures of the all new MPV Mobilio which will be launched during the last week of July. The Mobilio will compete with the likes of Chevrolet Enjoy and Maruti Ertiga. Honda Mobilio will offer three rows of seating and the rear bench comes with a 60:40 split and folds down to provide access to the third row. Both the second and third rows can be folded to increase boot space significantly.

The interiors are borrowed from the Brio and may not appeal to all. The Mobilio will get steering mounted audio controls, audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, power windows and alloy wheels. We will have to wait till the official launch to see what other features Honda offers on the top variant. The Mobilio is built on the Brio platform and we expect Honda to price it competitively.

Honda would offer the Mobilio with both petrol and diesel power plants. For petrol heads the award winning 4th generation i-VTEC motor producing 119 PS of power and 145 nm of torque will be the obvious choice. For the mileage conscious there is Honda`s i-DTEC diesel engine which produces a max power 100PS @3600 rpm and 200nm of torque. ARAI mileage figures are pegged at 17.8Kmpl for the petrol MT and 26KMpl for the Diesel MT.

All said and done Honda has done a lot of research on the Indian consumer’s tastes and the success of its recent launches is a testimony to this. Honda`s philosophy of man maximum and machine minimum stands true to its product line up. Let`s wait and see if Honda scores a hat trick with the Mobilio making it “third time lucky”.
