Volvo launched their internationally acclaimed XC90 luxury SUV in the country in May this year. It looks like the SUV has got off to a good start in India as the company has revealed that they have received 266 bookings for the XC90 within two months itself. The second generation XC90 is based on Volvo’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) and is a very successful product in other countries for its awesome exterior design, luxurious interiors and the long list of features offered.
Such has been the XC90’s craze in the country, that of the 350 units allocated to India for this year, only 84 units are now available for purchase (wow!). When talking about the XC90’s sales all over the world, the Swedish car maker has got more than 57,000 orders with more than 76 percent of customers opting for the top-end trim, Inscription. The top variant comes loaded with all the bells and whistles to give its rivals a run for their money.
Demonstrating the way forward, the XC90 is the first product of a new generation of vehicles from Volvo which is setting a benchmark when it comes to offering a bag load of safety features and tons of other equipment on a vehicle. The company was happy to state that the XC90 will pave the way for more exciting and newer cars that will be launched in the coming few years.
In addition to this, one of the safest SUVs till date, the XC90 received a full 5 out of 5 stars at the 2015 Euro NCAP crash tests that was held just recently. It was the first car ever to score 100 percent in the Safety Assist category. The XC90 is one of the best vehicles money can buy at the price bracket and is one hell of a contender in the luxury SUV segment. The Momentum variant is priced at Rs. 64.9 lakhs, while the top-end Inscription trim costs Rs. 77.9 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, Mumbai).
