Volvo S60 T6 Launched In India At Rs. 42 Lakhs
Becoming the Swedish carmaker`s fourth launch in the country this year, Volvo Cars India has just launched the 2015 Volvo S60 T6 petrol sedan at a starting price tag of Rs. 42 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Volvo has brought in the new S60 T6 facelifted version that started retailing in India last year, but only in two diesel avatars – D4 and D5 variants. The newly launched T6 now becomes the most powerful and performance friendly version of the S60 luxury sedan in our country.
The 2015 Volvo S60 T6 gets a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder, direct-injection petrol engine which generates a massive power of 306 HP and 400 Nm of peak torque. This engine replaces the old 3.0-litre, six-cylinder petrol unit that was sold with the pre-facelift model, which developed a slightly milder 304 HP and 440 Nm of torque. The new engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission which sends power to only the front wheels, which comes as a bit of a disappointment because its predecessor had an all-wheel drive system. However the new model promises to be faster than before completing the 0-100 km/hr sprint in just 5.9 seconds, going all the way up to a top speed of 230 km/hr.
The S60 T6 sedan comes with a digital instrument cluster, electronic climate control, sunroof, power-adjustable seats with full-leather upholstery, remote memory for the seats, 7-inch infotainment system with in-built navigation and the Sensus UI. Other features include LED DRLs, active bending headlights and cornering lights for illuminating the road better. On the safety front, the sedan comes loaded with a system called City Safety that automatically applies the car’s brakes in case of an impending collision, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, ABS, Park Assist, TPMS, DSTC, and EBA. Being a Volvo, the vehicle is very safe and gets a Side Impact Protection System, Whiplash Protection System, dual front and side airbags, and inflatable curtain airbags as well.
Going head on with the Mercedes-Benz C200, Audi A4 35 TFSI and the BMW 328i in the segment, the S60 T6’s performance is expected to remain the same as the sedan continues to be brought in via the CBU route.
