Volvo Rolls Out XC60 and S60 R-Design Variants in India
Swedish car manufacturer Volvo has launched the XC60 R and S60 R variants in India. The R suffix is indicative of some design facelifts to the exterior and interiors as well as an updated 2.0 litre, Drive E engine delivering 400 Nm torque and 181 PS of power to the wheels through an 8 speed automatic transmission, quite an upgrade from the previous 6 speed manual gearbox. The exterior of each model sports the R design D4 Summum trim. You will notice that the front bumper has undergone design changes and now features a honeycomb mesh for the air intake and a glossy black finish front grille. At the rear, the R-Design variants have circular chrome twin exhausts with brushed silver diffusers. At the back the most noticeable change is in the 18 inch diamond cut alloy wheels with 5 spokes complementing the silver finished ORVM on each side. Both models are available in a variety of colors of which the Passion red is perhaps the most striking. To sum it up the R variants look sportier and will appeal to the younger generation.
The interiors reflect the R badging with luxurious cabin design featuring leather upholstery, satellite navigation coupled with an audio system and a rear view camera. The steering wheel gets paddle shifters. The changes have contributed to making both models more appealing and stylish, definitely worth the price increase. The S60 R costs Rs. 40.10 lakhs. The XC60 R costs around Rs. 51 lakhs. Both cost about Rs. 5 lakhs more than the standard models. The luxury car market just became better with more options for consumers in the shape of these two models.
