Volkswagen`s Pune plant crosses 4 lakh car milestone
One of the most renowned auto companies and top German automobile giant, Volkswagen has crossed the milestone of producing 4 lakh cars from its plant in Pune. VW has achieved this feat in just five years after the plant was made operational in 2009.
The German car maker known for its build quality and robust design has revealed its achievement by stating that over 4 lakh cars have been produced for both domestic and 32 export markets spread across three continents. The company has achieved this milestone from Volkswagen`s Pune plant since its inception in March 2009. At present, the cars that are successfully being produced at VW`s Pune plant include its top 3 models i.e. the Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Polo and Vento (in both, right as well as left drive version).
A Polo Highline with the new 1.5 TDI engine was the 4,00,000th car to be rolled out from the assembly line of Volkswagen`s Pune plant. On reaching this milestone, Mahesh Kodumudi who is the President and Managing Director of Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd further assured and promised that Volkswagen would retain and keep its complete focus on reliability and productivity. He also added that the company would continue to focus on localization in order to cater to the demands of the domestic and international markets. The top brands of the German automobile giant Volkswagen Group in India are Audi, Porsche, Skoda, Lamborghini and Volkswagen. The company has been present in the Indian market for the past 13 years. The German company entered the Indian market with the introduction of the Skoda brand in the year 2001.
