Volkswagen upgrades Polo GT (TSI & TDI) features list
Much of the hype in the performance hatchback segment has been taken by the Abarth Punto Evo in recent times. The upcoming vehicle has gained a lot of publicity by now and is expected to become a hit among the enthusiasts in our country. In line with this, Volkswagen has quietly updated the feature list of its own performance offering, Polo GT TSI and TDI.
The added list of standard features includes the likes of a cooled glovebox, electrically adjustable and foldable side rear view mirrors and cruise control. However, these features have not been added to the Polo GT models as of now and the same have instead been featured at the company’s website only.
The added features seem to have been directly picked up from the Vento facelift that was launched not so long ago. The add-ons will increase prices of the updated Polo GT by around Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000. It remains unclear if, whether the standard Polo variants will get the same feature additions or not.
On the mechanical front, the Polo GT will continue to get its power from a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol motor churns out 105 PS and comes paired to a 7-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel mill puts out 105 PS and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Volkswagen Polo GT will soon be getting stiff competition in form of the Abarth Punto Evo which will put out around 145 BHP of power, enough to put the first to shame. Therefore, the feature additions comes as a move for the German car major to cement its position in the performance hatchback segment. However, Volkswagen has something bigger up its sleeve in form of the Polo GTI. The GTI is a proper hot hatch that is going to offer a massive 190 BHP. It will be coming to India soon and will be priced around Rs. 18 lakhs (ex-showroom) in the market.
