Volkswagen unveils Ameo compact sedan in India; Images, Specs and details
After being spotted testing with camouflage on numerous occasions, Volkswagen India has finally unveiled the Ameo compact sedan for the Indian market. The sub 4-metre sedan has been specifically developed keeping in mind the tastes of the Indian consumer. The Ameo will also be showcased at the 2016 Auto expo which starts from 3rd Feb, 2016.
This is the first car from Volkswagen in the compact sedan space to be introduced in the country. The Ameo features a high level of localization with the car being developed at VW`s manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune. Though VW is a late entrant to the highly competitive compact sedan space, the carmaker is extremely optimistic about its product and is very confident that the Ameo will be able to tackle the competition with ease.
The Volkswagen Ameo is built on the PQ25 platform and is based on the popular Polo hatchback. The car looks similar to the Polo when viewed from the front and shares some styling cues from its hatchback sibling. The company has done its bit to make the Ameo look fresh by giving it a new set of headlamps, chrome detailing, broader airdam and static cornering lights. The rear end of the car resembles the Vento sedan to some extent and gets sporty looking taillights. The VW Ameo compact sedan is a very well designed car with sharp distinctive lines and timeless appeal.
The interior look and feel is inspired from the Polo hatchback and Vento sedan. The cabin like all VW cars looks premium and the materials used are the best in the segment. The dashboard is simple and elegant with silver inserts on the AC vents and centre console. The Ameo gets stylish bucket seats at the front and bench-style seats at the back along with a leather wrapped multi-function flat bottom steering wheel.
Volkswagen India has loaded the Ameo with a host of features to make it stand above the competition. The car is equipped with best-in-class features like Cruise Control, driver and passenger side airbag (standard across all variants), ABS (standard across all variants), rain sensing wipers, touch-screen multimedia entertainment system with mirror link, I-pod connectivity, phonebook /sms viewer, auto dimming IRVM, cooled glove box, Tilt and Telescopic steering wheel, Static cornering lights, Climatronic automatic AC, rear view camera with parking sensors, front center arm rest, rear AC vent and sporty 16 inch alloy wheels.

Launch Date –
