Volkswagen passenger cars brand sells 2.55 million vehicles globally in 2014
Even though Volkswagen entered the Indian car market in 2007 it has not yet found a proper footing in India. The German carmaker is struggling to boost its sales volumes due to heavy competition from heavyweights like Maruti and Hyundai.
What we may not know is that the Volkswagen passenger cars brand sold 2.55 million vehicles in the first five months of 2014 globally. Compared to May 2013 (511,000) sales deliveries grew by 3.9 percent with the car maker handing over 531,000 units to customers during May 2014. Volkswagen stated that the Asia-Pacific region remained the growth driver followed by Western Europe.
