Volkswagen’s new-sub-compact sedan has been officially named as ‘Ameo’ derived from the Latin word ‘Amo’ meaning ‘I Love’. After much speculation and anticipation, the German carmaker announced the sub-compact sedan’s name on Jan 20th, which will make its global launch at the upcoming Auto Expo in Delhi. Michael Mayer, Volkswagen India Head during the launch of the Vento in 2015 announced the plan to launch 5 new products in India within the time frame of two years. Standing true to its word, Volkswagen is here with 3 products in store for the 2016 Auto Expo next month, Ameo being one of them.

Volkswagen Ameo as reports suggest will be one of the key launches which has been designed especially for the Indian market. The automaker asserts that the sub-compact sedan is a unique offering which has been designed maintaining the brand values of top-notch safety features, exceptional driving experience and unmatched build quality. The design language of the sub-compact sedan is stated to be so very expressive that it will surely capture the mind, body and soul. The all-new Volkswagen Ameo as stated above has been designed keeping in mind the Indian market which makes it the very first German automaker to do so.

The sub-4m sedan Ameo will be manufactured at Volkswagen’s Chakan facility. Marching forth with confidence in the gutsy compact sedan space, Ameo is expected to revitalize the brand in India. The German auto major launched the 21st century Beetle last month which is first among the five products planned for the Indian market. The company is tight-lipped about its next major launch, details of which are expected to be revealed at the 2016 Auto Expo. The other two offerings from the carmaker`s stable which will debut at the forthcoming expo are- luxury hybrid sedan Passat GTE and the all-new compact sports utility vehicle Volkswagen Tiguan.
