Truth and Rumors behind Triumph Street Cup Launch

Triumph Street Cup spied

Triumph Motorcycles Ltd, the largest British motorcycle brand, is planning to expand its Bonneville series by working on two new models, as per the information revealed by sources close to the company. Currently, officials from Triumph have refused to comment on this information.

But, sources suggest that the company is all set to launch its Street Cup, a new Triumph cafe racer, in 2017. It is difficult to predict the launching year of Street Cup in India, as Triumph India is currently focusing on the launch of top-spec Thruxton R, which is scheduled in the next few months of this fiscal year. Going by the Indian market response and inclination to retro-looking bikes, the low budget cafe racer will steal the hearts of bike lovers.

Recently Triumph`s new bike has been spotted testing with a 900cc parallel-twin near the factory of Triumph in Hinckley, and it looked like the prototype of the Street Cup. The new Bonneville is based on the technologies used in the Triumph Street Twin. As a result, the Street Cup will be a combination of the Street Twin and Thruxton. The parts of this entry-level bike Street Cup will be shared with two Bonnies, the Street Twin and Thruxton. The powertrain of the Street Cup is a liquid cooled 900cc parallel-twin engine which is borrowed from the Street Twin. The base frame and bodywork of this new British motorcycle is same as the Street Twin’s, while the exterior elements of the Street Cup like seats, Headlight brackets and instrument console are borrowed from the Thruxton.

While many parts will be borrowed from the Triumph Thruxton and Street Twin, there will be three all-new components in the Street Cup. This will include a new handlebar, a freshly engineered exhaust, and a new calliper for the front brake. When the Street Cup will launch early next year, it will replace the air cooled 865cc Thruxton, with which it shares the headlight cowl. The new Triumph bike will definitely attract customers due to its fresh new looks. The price of Street Cup is expected to be in the range of the Triumph Bonneville and in terms of pricing, it is expected that the 1200cc Thruxton will be left behind once Street Cup is launched.

Now it remains to be seen how the Street Cup will meet the expectations of Triumph lovers across the globe.
