So the time has finally come for Toyota to introduce its all-new facelifted MPV, the Toyota Innova. After the new Innova 2016 made its official debut in Indonesia, the wait for this Toyota MPV in India started building. The manufacturer has already stopped production of the outgoing model last month, so it was apparent that the new Innova launch isn’t very far. And now, Toyota has officially confirmed that the new Innova Crysta 2016 launch in India is scheduled for the 3rd of May, 2016.

Toyota India had earlier showcased the Innova 2016 in India at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, where it was christened as the Innova Crysta. The company also announced its plans to manufacture the Innova locally at their production facility in Bidadi, near Bangalore. This local production has confirmed that Toyota would like to keep the Innova Crysta price in India within the reach of its target audience.

The Innova Crysta has been given significant changes as compared to the model it replaces. The exterior design now looks a lot more proportional, and has been given an urban taste to it. Moreover, design features like projector headlamps, along with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) give the MPV a more premium look. Side profile has been given a comparatively constrained design, thus making it look neutral. Meanwhile, the Innova Crysta`s rear end has been given new boomerang shaped taillights that make it easily recognizable in the night.

The Innova Crysta engine list contains a new 2.8-litre diesel engine from Toyota’s GD series of engines that is capable of developing 172 hp of power, and a peak torque of 360 Nm. A smaller 2.4-litre mill will also be on offer for the mileage-lovers, which is tuned to give 147 hp and 343 Nm of torque.

The Toyota Innova Crysta variants will contain three trims: GX, VX and ZX, out of which, the base and top variants will be given a 6-speed automatic gearbox option, while all other trims will get a 5-speed MT as standard.
