Made In India Toyota Sprint Etios Introduced in South Africa
Made in India Toyota Etios Sprint gets launched in the South African market. This happens to be the third model in the range from Toyota’s stable. The new Sprint stands apart from the rest in terms of its distinct styling. Just so you remember, the Etios Sprint was previewed at the Festival of Motoring organised in October 2016. Toyota bids adieu to the mid-grade Etios Xs and brings in the Etios Sprint with several unique features. Toyota Etios Sprint is being offered in sedan as well as hatch versions just like the Toyota Etios Xi. The Etios Sprint sedan has been tagged at R 1, 80500 (INR 839558.59) while the Etios Sprint is available at R 1, 72600 (INR 802813.37).
The front profile looks fantabulous with unique radiator grille design, fresh bumper design that contains a large lower air dam covering the entire front width and also fog lamps integrated with features along with a sculpted bezel. The rear profile gets an elegant lower crease line on the rear bumper that is stretched from outer corners and merges with the license plate recess. The bumper has been tweaked making the Etios sedan longer by 104 mm while the length of the Etios hatch has been increased by 109 mm. Adding to the aesthetics is 15-inch twin spoke alloy wheels and the carbon-fibre-look Sprint badge.
And that’s not all, Toyota has even updated the other Etios grades, the base grade-Xi gets a color-coded grille with chrome accents while the interiors have been upgraded for models across the range for added solidity. Powering the Toyota Etios is a 1.5-L, 4-cylinder 2NR-FE petrol engine that churns out maximum power of 88.4 hp (66KW) at 5500 rpm and peak torque of 132 Nm at 3000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels through a 5-speed gearbox. The Etios sedan delivers fuel economy of 16.67 km/l while the Etios hatchback offers 16.95 km/l.
