Tata Nexon spied without camouflage, Launch in October 2017
Compact SUVs are the current rage in the Indian market and every manufacturer is trying its hand to claim a share in this fast growing segment. After the launch of the Tata Hexa and Tata Tigor, if there is one car that everyone is eagerly waiting for it’s the Tata Nexon. Expected to launch in October this year, the Nexon has been spied recently without any camouflage.
From the images it is clear that it’s a top end variant with dual tone 17 inch alloy wheels and a white paint job. Tata will also be offering dual tone colours on the Nexon. The SUVs design is quite unique which is its USP when compared to its rivals and it is based on Tata`s Impact design philosophy.
The Tata Nexon will be Tata`s first compact SUV to be launched in India. It debuted initially at the 2016 Auto Expo and was shown to the global audience at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
Tata would be plonking an all-new 1.5 litre diesel engine under the hood of the Nexon. The engine would be mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The petrol variant on the other hand would get a 1.2 litre revotron motor mated to a 5-speed transmission. With more and more customers opting for automatic gearboxes over their manual counter parts, we expect the Nexon to feature an AMT in both petrol and diesel variants. Tata Nexon Expected Launch Date in India
The Tata Nexon is expected to launch in Q3, 2017.
Tata Nexon Expected Price
As Tata is already late to the party, therefore to mark a presence and fight with the present best sellers such as the Ford Ecosport and the Maruti Vitara Brezza, they will have to price the Nexon very competitively. Therefore we expect the base variant to be priced as low as Rs 6.5 Lakh while the top level trim may cost you Rs 10.5 Lakh (ex-showroom).
|Variants||Expected Price (ex-showroom)|
|Top model||Rs. 10.50 lakh|
|Base model||Rs. 6.50 lakh|
Tata Nexon Engine Specifications
Tata Nexon will feature the same petrol mill powering the Tiago which is a 1.2 Liter Turbo petrol unit, but with a different state of tune to produce more power and torque. While for the Diesel there will be a new 1.5 Liter Turbo unit. Both the Diesel and the petrol can be opted with either a 6-speed manual or an F-Tronic AMT gearbox.
|Gearbox||5-speed Manual||6-speed Manual/AMT|
|Engine||1.2 Liter Turbo||1.5 Liter Turbo|
|Max Power||110 Bhp||108 Bhp|
|Max Torque||170 Nm||260 Nm|
When launched, the Tata Nexon will become the most powerful car in the Sub-4 meter SUV segment. This much power that too at a competitive price will make the Nexon an unbeatable choice.
Tata Nexon Expected Mileage
Though the Nexon will be one of the most powerful cars in its segment but that does not mean that there will be a compromise in mileage, the Nexon should deliver a mileage of around 18 Kmpl with the petrol and around 23 Kmpl with the diesel engines.
Tata Nexon Dimensions
The Nexon is 5 mm short of 4 meters in length, therefore it qualifies to avail the benefits offered by the Government of India on a sub-4 meter car. The ground clearance is a good 200 mm which means that the Nexon will live upto the expectations of customers from a compact SUV.

Tata Nexon Design and Features
Like all other upcoming models from Tata Motors, the Nexon also follows the new Impact Design philosophy. The Nexon is a mix of curves and lines which result in a fresh and young looking crossover. Over the front the Nexon carries an aggressive bumper with a large air dam followed by round fog lamps, a piano black grille and projector headlamps with LED DRLs. The side profile is accentuated with ceramic side finisher, roof in contrast colour and 16-inch alloy wheels. Unlike other counterparts from the same segment such as the Brezza, Ecosport and the TUV300, the Nexon features a sloping roof line.
Just like the exteriors, the interiors of the Nexon also reflect the youth eccentric design philosophy. The quality of the materials is top-notch. The steering wheel, dashboard and the centre console are taken forward from the Tiago. The car has a 2+3 seating layout with generous amounts of space at the front and back.
