Tata Nano GenX launched in India at Rs 1.99 lakh
Tata Motors has always been concerned as to why the Nano did not perform according to their expectations. Many blamed Tata’s marketing strategies of the Nano for its failure in India. However, after conducting a lot of research and market analysis, the company had decided a while back that they will position the Nano as a more premium product offering.
In line with this Tata Motors has finally launched the updated 2015 Nano GenX Easy Shift in India at a starting price of Rs. 1.99 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base variant and Rs. 2.89 lakhs for the top-end AMT variant.
The Tata Nano GenX features many design changes including new front and rear bumpers. The front grille has also been modified and is based on the infinity motif. Headlights are now blacked out and feature a “Nano” engraving inside. Side profile remains the same while the rear gets an openable boot-lid, much to everyone’s comfort and an integrated spoiler. The cheapest Tata car is now available in seven different colours including new ones like Sangria Red and Persian Rose in addition to the previous Pearl White, Meteor Silver, Dazzle Blue, Royal Gold and Damson Purple.
The interiors on the other hand remain more or less the same, save for the new steering wheel which is similar to the one found on the Zest. The small hatchback comes with a good kitty of features including front power windows, power steering, remote locking and an air-con unit. It comes equipped with the AmphiStream music system that offers a Radio, CD player, USB, AUX input and also Bluetooth connectivity. The Nano GenX also has an increased fuel tank capacity of 24-litres.
Powered by the same 624cc, twin-cylinder petrol engine that can produce 38 PS of power at 5500 RPM and 51 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM, it comes mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. The AMT variant gets the 5-speed unit with a Sports mode. The Tata Nano GenX AMT returns a mileage of 21.9 km/l, while the manual versions return 23.6 km/l as per ARAI certification.
Becoming the most affordable automatic car to go on sale in India, the 2015 Nano GenX is available in five different variants with prices as follows (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi):
• Nano GenX XE MT – Rs. 1.99 lakhs
• Nano GenX XM MT – Rs. 2.29 lakhs
• Nano GenX XT MT – Rs. 2.49 lakhs
• Nano GenX XMA AMT – Rs. 2.69 lakhs
• Nano GenX XTA AMT – Rs. 2.89 lakhs
