Tata Kite5 compact sedan spied in production-ready form
Ever since the Indian manufacturer showcased the Tata Kite5 Compact Sedan at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, people have been eagerly waiting for more details around this new contender in the highly competitive and populated compact sedan segment. And now, we have a couple of pics which showcase the Tata Kite5 in its production-ready form.
The Kite5 Sedan is basically a three-box sibling of the recently launched hatchback, the Tata Tiago. Keeping in mind the fact that the Tiago has managed to rope-in satisfactory inquiries to Tata dealerships, the company is planning to continue its growth with the Kite5 as well.
This new Tata compact sedan gets a front fascia that is similar to that of the Tiago hatchback. Significant design changes begin after the B-Pillar, as the Kite5 sedan gets longer rear doors, while the roofline slops elegantly into the boot lid. The stubby boot has been integrated brilliantly as the Kite5 can be termed as the most proportionate design in its segment. Addition of the third box has enhanced the Kite5 boot space, which is scaled at a class-leading figure of 420-litre.
The Kite5`s interiors too will borrow elements from its hatchback sibling, including the much talked about Harman audio system that supports USB, Aux-in and Bluetooth connectivity. Safety has been taken care of by the presence of ABS, and dual front airbags. The top-of-the-line variant will also include fog lamps, alloy wheels, and steering mounted audio controls.
Tata Kite5 engines will also be the same as that found under the hood of the Tiago. The 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and the 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while an AMT option will be available as well.
