Tata Kite 5 sedan India launch in early 2017
Tata Motors is on a spree to redefine its brand image with all-new products. It started of this journey earlier this year with the all-new Tiago hatchback. The next big launch from the Indian automaker is the Tata Hexa SUV. However, another interesting vehicle coming from Tata’s stable is the Kite5 sedan, which will be launched in early months of 2017.
We are well aware of the fact that the Hexa SUV from Tata Motors will be launched in India in January 2017. Subsequently, once the hype settles in, Tata will be bringing in their new compact sedan offering, the Kite5. It is basically an under 4-meter sedan iteration of the highly popular Tiago. Like the Tiago co-exists with the Bolt, the Kite5 too is expected to sell along with its under 4m sedan sibling – the Zest.
The Kite5 was shown as a production-ready concept at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. The car gets a Tiago-like front fascia. However, the rear doors are longer and the roofline slopes more angularly at the rear to meet the tailgate in order to give a coupe-like profile. The rear end is one of the best boot integrations seen on a compact sedan till date; way better than the rather disproportionate stuck-on job done on the segment leader – the Maruti Swift DZire.
Once launched, the Kite5 is expected to make a niche sub-segment in the compact sedan space. The existing competitors like Maruti DZire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and the Ford Aspire compete with the Tata Zest. Since the Kite5 will be placed lower than the Zest, it will likely undercut prices of all its competitors.
Here`s everything you need to know about the Tata Kite 5 sedan.
Tata Kite 5 Launch Date (Expected)
Although the company hasn’t breathed a word, the sub-compact sedan is expected to grace the Indian car bazaar during the festive season this year, which is in between October to November 2016.
Tata Kite 5 Price in India
|Base Trim||Rs 4 lakh|
|Top Trim||Rs. 5.5 lakh|
We expect the base model of the sedan to be tagged at INR 4 lakh, while the fully loaded model will be priced at INR 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata has positioned the upcoming budget sedan below the Zest.
Tata Kite 5 Exterior Design
The handsome looking sedan is spacious and has dimensions of 3995 mm in length, 1647 mm in width and 1535 mm in height. The compact sedan shares the platform with Indigo eCS’s XO and has been tweaked for improved stability and rigidity. Talking about styling, it is way more premium and contemporary as compared to the Indigo eCS. The fascia of the Tata Kite 5 resembles the Tiago with honeycomb mesh grille, double barrelled headlamp, bumpers, large air intakes and spoilers.
The side profile looks catchy with blacked out tapering roof-lines and prominent crisp window lines that moves high along with the shoulder line. Coming to the rear-end, the glamorous tail lamps, blackened portion of the rear bumper, chrome strip and integrated spoiler housing brake light makes it one of the most well designed cars in its segment.
Tata Kite 5 Interior
The interiors look highly inspired from the Tiago with the only major difference being the all-black interiors. The dashboard and instrument panel on the other hand resembles the one in the Zest. The interiors look contemporary and offer adequate storage places like 500 ml bottle holder in the door pockets, cup holders at the centre and a lot more on the inside. The Tiago inspired suspension system offers a good mix of handling and ride quality. It has fuel tank capacity of 35 litres which makes it suitable even for long road trips.
List of features included are signature three spoke multifunction steering wheel, 2-DIN audio system with 8-speaker, Bluetooth and AUX connectivity, ABS, dual airbags, reverse parking display, step-by-step navigation for Android phones, Juke-car app and SMS display and readout. The rear AC vent is missing, but with a powerful Air-con system like in the Tiago this feature hardly draws attention. The cabin is comfortable and spacious with best-in-class boot capacity of 420 litres.
