Tata Bolt “120bhp” Sport concept showcased at 2015 Geneva Motor Show

Tata Bolt Sport 120bhp

Tata Motors has all guns blazing at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The Indian auto giant showcased a souped-up Tata Bolt car “sport” concept which produces an eye-popping 120bhp (surprising for a TATA car isn’t it!). Tata Motors Ltd also showcased the Aria based HEXA concept at the event.

The car`s technical specifications under the hood are worth talking about. The turbocharged motor bangs out 170Nm of twisting force between 2000 -3500 rpm from the 1.2 litre Revotron engine that currently powers the Bolt hatchback. All this power is transferred to the front wheels via a 5 speed manual transmission, with stopping power coming from discs brakes on all four wheels.

How different is the Tata Bolt Sport from the regular hatchback?

>The Tata Bolt Sport comes equipped with a much larger turbocharger, recalibrated ECU and free flow exhaust system to generate those big (BHP and Torque figures) from the 1.2 litre Revotron engine.

>The Sport gets revised gear ratios in the transaxle, which further aids in boosting the top-end performance of the car.

>Tata Motors claims that the suspension set up on the car is tuned for the track (can`t wait to experience it).
>It features a high performance braking system.

>The car features a low ride height due to the lowered suspension setup. This enhancement has been done to keep the car stable at high speeds.

>The Bolt Sport comes with an added sports kit (front bumper with air dam), diffuser styling on the rear bumper, side skirts and a sunroof to do justice to the “Sport” moniker.

>Tata has also revamped the interiors which now get a dose of black leather with red contrast stitching. Enhancements include a sporty leather wrapped steering wheel, new dashboard and sporty pedals.

All this shows that TATA Motors is quite serious at making a comeback with a big bang! Finally we can expect a sporty and fun to drive car from the house of Tata. The launch date is still unknown, but given the power figures (120bhp and 170Nm), I can`t wait to get behind the wheel of this little monster!
