Suzuki Reveals Compact SUV Vitara
If you remember, a couple of years back Maruti Suzuki had phased out the Grand Vitara SUV from the Indian market. But on August 28th an all new compact SUV named “Vitara”, has been revealed by Suzuki Motor Corporation before its debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. What makes it interesting is the fact that the Vitara will be built on the iV-4 platform which was first showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013. The iV-4 concept resembles the XA Alpha concept which was first showcased at the 2012 Auto expo in New Delhi. We don`t have any confirmed news if the Vitara will make its way to India.
Launching this compact SUV in India would be feasible for the car maker as this will be a global product and the company need not work on an India centric platform for the car. The compact SUV segment has witnessed a huge demand in India and auto manufacturers are vying for a share in this space. Hyundai is also planning to launch the ix25 compact SUV in India and it does make sense if Maruti Suzuki India plans to bring the Vitara compact crossover to India.
Suzuki will be launching the Vitara in UK during spring next year and the crossover will feature an intelligent four wheel drive system. The compact SUV will be offered with petrol and diesel engines.
