Suzuki Motorcycle India to organize Gixxer Cup
Suzuki Motorcycle India is on a roll ever since it launched the Gixxer 155cc bike in the Indian market. The bike has received a very good response owing to its stylish looks, unmatched features and great riding performance. To keep the Buzz around the brand, Suzuki India recently launched the Gixxer SF which is a fully faired version of the Gixxer. In order to further increase its market share and popularity the company has just announced that it will be hosting the Gixxer Cup, a one make race championship series which will be held between June 2015 – October 2015. The races will comprise of two parts – “Novice” for the beginner level and “Open” for the experienced rider.
The Gixxer Cup will be made up of five rounds of racing which will be held at the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai and the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. The races will be held in accordance with the Indian National Motor Racing championship. Suzuki will be providing 20 race equipped Gixxer SF motorbikes which will be modified especially for these races. The race spec bikes have undergone some weight shedding due to the removal of mirrors, mudguard and headlight. The race bikes also feature a racing exhaust.
Racing is still in a nascent stage in India and this is a highly appreciated move by Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL). A few car racing championships have been conducted by Toyota and Volkswagen brands in India, while one make bike racing has been conducted by Honda and Yamaha. The Japanese bike manufacturer, Suzuki, is known the world over for its racing championships and its introduction in the country will definitely give a boost to the motor racing scene in India. The series will give Suzuki the much needed platform to showcase the bike`s capabilities which will also result in better visibility and better sales of the Gixxer.
