Suzuki Gixxer spied with full fairing
Suzuki, Japanese auto major, plans to launch a new version of the much loved naked bike, the Gixxer. Spy shots of the test bikes have been doing the rounds online. A fully covered version of the Gixxer, along with the original at the back can be seen in the above image.
From the initial images, it can be seen that this model of the Gixxer will have full fairing, covering the engine bay. Almost everything else is identical to its sibling, from the fuel tank to foot pegs, alloy wheel design and that awesome two in one exhaust. The significant changes can be seen in the front, with full fairing, windshield and headlight, which makes it look like its monster elder brother, the Hayabusa.
Additional details are the rear view mirrors attached to the front fairing, and the rear grab-rail, which is part of the body and not an external added unit. This model should have optical rear-disc brakes. Expected to have the same heart as the Suzuki Gixxer, a 154.9cc motor that has a power output of about 14.8PS @8000 rpm and 14Nm of torque at 6000rpm. The only thing to note here is that this is a single cylinder air cooled engine, with the front fairing completely covering the engine bay. How Suzuki designs the air-intakes to keep the engine cool would be interesting to see. If done incorrectly, the Gixxer could land up with a heating problem as seen on the KTM duke siblings.
Expected to be launched early next year, with a price tag of around 90,000(about 6,000 more then the Gixxer) its main competition would be the Yamaha Fazer V2.0 and the KTM RC190. Should be interesting!
