Suzuki Gixxer SF Fuel Injection (FI) launched; Priced at Rs. 93,499
Suzuki Gixxer has been an important bike for the Japanese two wheeler manufacturer’s Indian arm. It is offered in two body style, a naked street fighter named the Gixxer, and a partially faired sportsbike named the Gixxer SF. Cumulatively, both these models amount to 27% of Suzuki’s sales in the country. Hence, the automaker is now trying to milk this cash cow as far as it can. This is the real reason behind the automaker’s latest strategy to launch new models in the Gixxer lineup. We saw it earlier with the SP Special Edition models for the Gixxer SF and the normal Gixxer. And Suzuki Motorcycles India has done it yet again by launching another variant of the popular bike, named the Suzuki Gixxer SF FI.
For those of you who haven’t yet understood what the FI in the aforementioned moniker means, it stands for Fuel Injection. As a result, while the regular Gixxer variants came with a carbureted engine, the new Gixxer SF FI comes with an advanced fuel injection technology. This makes it a bit more refined and enhanced the fueling of the bike across the RPM range. It even helps in improving the bike’s fuel economy.
It must be noted here that Suzuki is offering the Gixxer SF FI only in the MotoGP edition. This means that people looking to buy the FI variant will need to settle for the bike with decals and Suzuki’s racing colour.
Powering the Suzuki Gixxer SF FI is a 154.9cc, single-cylinder SOHC engine which is capable of developing 14.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm, while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Suzuki Gixxer SF FI (Fuel Injection) will be currently available in only 9 cities of the country, viz., Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi and Ahmedabad. It is priced at Rs. 93,499 (ex-showroom Delhi), which makes it costlier by Rs. 4,642, as compared to the regular Gixxer SF carbureted version.
