Suzuki Gixxer garners 10,000 unit sales in October
Suzuki’s popular bike Gixxer has touched the 10,000 unit sales mark in October 2015 giving the Japenese auto firm a reason to rejoice this festive season. As compared to September, Suzuki witnessed 15 per cent hike in monthly sales in October. Launched in September last year, the bike has witnessed a noticeable surge in demand crossing the 10,000 sales mark last month. The company retailed around 35,936 units in October, wherein Gixxer alone chipped in 10,000 units.
The steady rise in monthly numbers has enabled the bike to reserve a spot for itself among the top five selling 150 cc bikes in India. Introduction of the Suzuki Gixxer SF featuring Hayabusa inspired styling made things even better for the bike roping in additional numbers every month.
Having received a couple of updates of late, Suzuki Gixxer houses a 154.9cc, single pot, air-cooled, powertrain capable of outputting 14.8 PS at 8000 RPM and 14 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a five-speed transmission. Fuel economy on offer is around 63.5 kmpl which is quite impressive, all thanks to the Suzuki’s Eco Performance technology. Besides, the company recently launched a two-tone colour theme on the Gixxer.
In the coming months, Suzuki will introduce a rear disc brake as an optional trim in the Gixxer range. The new optional variant was even caught on camera undergoing test runs last month. As for launch of the new trim, it could take place either by the end of this year or early next year.
