Suzuki Gixxer 155 cc Bookings Now Open
Suzuki India has not made much headway against competition from Honda, Bajaj, Hero and Yamaha with its GSR150. The Gixxer 155 seems to be their response to the 150 cc market segment. It features a new engine with a triangular tailpipe but for the most part, it tries to emulate the Yamaha FZ in looks. Gixxer’s engine is a 155 cc SOHC air cooled one with 13.7 BHP and 14 Nm of torque in tandem with a 5 speed gearbox with one down, four up shift with Suzuki Eco Performance system in place to assure better mileage without cutting back on power. The Gixxer has angular modern lines and is squarely pitted against the FZ with its sporty looks, telescopic suspension at the front and monoshock at the rear.
The Gixxer comes with a disc brake at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The Gixxer was showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo and now bookings are open. The Gixxer takes its name from the venerable GSXR series of which the GSXR 1000 was introduced in 2001 and later the GSXR 1100 which are the most popular in international markets. Priced at a whopping Rs. 15 lakhs, that puts it in a special class with looks and performance to match. The Gixxer 155 cc is an attempt to bring the same aura to a watered down 150 cc bike with prices to match competition in this class.
