Spied: Mahindra S101/ XUV100 interiors caught on camera
Mahindra’s Ford EcoSport rivalling compact SUV codenamed S101 has been snapped yet again undergoing test runs, revealing interiors of the vehicle. Piano black appliqué envelops the interiors and silver finish around steering wheel and instrument console looks elegant. Interior styling and quality of materials used in the Mahindra S101 aka XUV100 is likely to be premium as Mahindra is aiming at urban customers. A touch-screen infotainment system featuring a rectangular display and rectangular shaped A/C vents are seen fitted inside. Steering seems to be borrowed from TUV300, various cubbyholes for storage such as the poking gear-lever and an alcove above the glovebox provides convenient space for storage.
On the outside, the wing mirrors seem to be positioned a tad higher than usual and they appear dimensionally bigger than the regular ones seen on vehicles. An integrated spoiler at the rear, blacked out pillars around doors, roof rails atop and rear wipers are some of the other exterior fitments visible in the spy image. Safety features like anti-lock-braking system and dual airbags could come affixed exclusively in the range topping variant.
Mechanical set up includes an all new 1.2 litre, petrol mill which is being co-developed by SsnagYong. Diesel version on the other hand could derive power from a 1.5 litre oil burner which currently powers the TUV300. The diesel engine bangs out 84 HP of power in the TUV300, however Mahindra could tweak it to produce a different power output in the S101. Transmission duties are likely to be served by a conventional manual gearbox along with an automated manual transmission.
