Spied : Facelifted Volkswagen Vento Spotted
Volkswagen India is trying to keep the buzz around the brand by launching facelifted versions of its existing cars. VW launched the 2014 facelifted Polo in July this year and next in line is the Vento. A facelifted version of the Vento has been spotted at a fuel filling station in Mumbai.
From the image it is clear that the refreshed Vento will get styling changes which are similar to the 2014 facelifted Polo hatchback. The car is likely to get redesigned headlights, a new grille, a larger airdam and a restyled front bumper. The refreshed Vento could get a few minor tweaks in the form of a new rear bumper and tail lamps. The car could also get a new pair of alloy wheels.
The changes to the interiors will feature a new three spoke flat bottom steering wheel, new fabric seats and matte silver inserts on the centre console like in the facelifted Polo. The major change would be under the hood in the form of the all-new 1.5 litre TDI diesel motor. The engine is available in two states of tune in the Polo hatchback. We expect VW to plonk the more powerful 105BHP version in the sedan. The Vento is likely to be offered with a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission as well. We hope Volkswagen offers cruise control and push button start on the updated Vento as these features have become quite common in this segment.
The competition is getting hotter in the C segment with Maruti gearing up to launch the Ciaz sedan in October. The Vento is a brilliant car but its sales have been hampered by poor after sales support. We`ll have to wait and see how the updated Vento stacks up against the competition. The car is likely to be launched during the festive season in October 2014.
