Sneak peak into King Khan’s new Vanity Van designed by DC
King Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) has been dominating Bollywood for a while now. Whether it’s his new movie he’s starring in, or a new venture for his production house, Shah Rukh Khan is always on the move. To make sure he has the comfort of home wherever he goes, he got a Vanity Van designed by none other than Dilip Chabbria himself. And we must say DC and his team has done an amazing job.
The Vanity Van is based on the Volvo B9R Multi-Axle chassis, but the chassis is where all the similarity ends. The mammoth vehicle has been stripped off all stock interiors and exteriors that came, as standard to make sure that the van is a one off piece exclusive for “King of Bollywood.”
The front end of the vehicle gets a new bumper and massive windscreen to make it look impactful. The side is kept simple and elegant with a few windows, while the rear has ridges with a long tailamps that give the bus a futuristic look. The nomenclature of DC can be seen at the back, which looks classy.
The interior is where the main magic happens. The cabin has been partitioned to accommodate a meeting room, a bedroom, shower, a pantry, a changing room and make up room! The Bus has a hydraulic system wherein it extends a section of the bus to make 80sqft of additional space for the king khan.
Everything in the van is custom made, from the wooden ceiling to the beige leather used on the furniture. DC and his team has made sure that Shah Rukh Khan will travel with all the luxuries possible. To keep SRK entertained while he waits for his shot to get ready, the bus has Wi-Fi, satellite TV and a 4000W Bose sound system. That’s one bus you could never get bored in.
All of this was achieved in just 45 days, which says much about DC’s timely delivery. Keeping the vehicle running is a 9 litre in-line 6-cylinder motor that provides 1600Nm of torque and 340bhp. That is more than enough to make sure the Vanity van will reach the set at the right time!
It is said that the van cost the superstar something between Rs. 3-4 crore (could’ve gotten a house in the suburbs of Mumbai for that much). Well there’s no holding back in this case for Mr. Khan.
