Skoda begins production of 2015 Fabia Estate

Skoda Fabia Combi

The Skoda Fabia Estate, which was premiered at the Paris Motor show in October earlier this year, has gone into production at its main plant in Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic. The regular Fabia was premiered a month earlier.

Design

Based on Skoda’s strategy the Fabia Estate borrows its sharp lines and dynamic style from the Vision C concept, which was showcased earlier this year. The new Superb sketches too show how this new style has been incorporated into the revamped versions of their cars.

Sharp lines and futuristic designing have been incorporated and the car is definitely a looker. The main highlight of the car is its boot space, which is about 530 liters (1,395 litres with the back seat folded down). This makes it the perfect estate, soccer mom car for the weekdays and road trip car on the weekends!

As seen in the photos, the revamped styling adds a lot of character to the car, with the refurbished headlamps and grill, and typical Skoda taillights. The new generation Combi is 10 mm longer, 90 mm wider and 31 mm lower than its predecessor, and for the first time would be available along with a panoramic sunroof.

Engine

The engine being used on the Combi is said to be 17 percent more fuel efficient. A Skoda Fabia Combi Greenline will also be launched, which is claimed to have a fuel consumption of 32.25 km/l and CO2 emissions of 82g/km.

Features

The infotainment system will have smartphone connectivity by Mirror Link, displaying smartphone apps such as Sat-Nav and Media player connectivity through the on-board system. The safety, comfort and infotainment features as said to be incorporated from its big brothers, the Superb and Octavia.

Conclusion

The Skoda Fabia Combi was launched in the year 2000 and has till date sold about 1.1 million units. This particular model however, will not be making its way to Indian shores.
