Scoop : Maruti Ertiga facelift spotted, will it get the AMT ?
Maruti`s Ertiga has been facing the heat ever since the Honda Mobilio had been launched. The Ertiga was ruling the segment below the Innova. But with more competition coming its way in the form of the upcoming Reanult Logdy MPV, things are going to get tougher in the MPV segment. The Maruti Ertiga was launched in April 2012 and is due to get a minor refresh to keep it looking fresh in the face of upcoming competition.
The first spyshots of the updated Maruti Ertiga have surfaced on the internet and by looking at the pictures we can clearly say that there won’t be any dramatic changes. The MPV will get minor updates to the front and rear bumper.
On the exterior the updated Ertiga will feature a two-slat chrome grille, like the one seen on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki S-Cross spyshots. The Grille is finished in chrome and the MPV gets new front and rear bumpers along with a set of new alloy wheels. If you remember Maruti had launched a limited edition Ertiga before the launch of the Honda Mobilio in July this year. The Limited Edition version featured a three-slat front grille along with Jazzy body decals.
The report also claims that the Ertiga will be getting the famed AMT (Automatic Manual Transmission). The AMT gearbox was first introduced in the Celerio and with the tremendous success of this model in the Indian market Maruti will soon equip most of its cars with AMT technology. The Automated Manual Transmission will give the Ertiga an added advantage over its rival the Mobilio which comes only with a manual transmission. Powering the updated Ertiga would be the same 1.4 litre K series petrol motor and 1.3 litre multijet engine. Both the engines will however be tuned to provide better fuel efficiency.
