Mahindra XUV500 facelift spotted testing
2015 is going to be a big year for Mahindra. It will be introducing a new version of the best-selling SUV in India, the Bolero, and now spy shots of a camouflaged XUV500 facelift have been spotted online. Not a lot can be seen, but reports suggest, the car could get a refurbished dashboard design, new alloy wheels and a completely new fascia. The taillights on the mule looked like the old one, but could be changed prior to its launch. That’s what Mahindra did a few years back with the launch of the Scorpio.
Under the hood, the Mahindra XUV500 is expected to carry over the same 2.2L mHawk diesel engine which pumps out a power of 140 bhp @3,750 rpm and a peak torque of 330 Nm @1,600-2,800 rpm. The engine could be tuned differently for better fuel efficiency. An auto-box, sourced from Aisin (Japan), might also be available as an option. The six-speed auto-box could bump the power up by 30PS.
Though no official announcement is made, this car would be available by the end of next year. Expect it to be competitively priced, to compete with the Duster and the Safari Storme. Other models being released by Mahindra in 2015 is the sub-compact SUV, codenamed the Mahindra S101.Expected to be priced in the range of 4-6 Lakhs, the car sports features like anti-lock braking system, airbags and ESP.
2015 is going to be a good year for Mahindra.
