Scoop: Mahindra S101 spied with front bench seats
Mahindra is developing a compact SUV called S101; it is a big development and we all are eagerly waiting for its launch. The specialty of the car lies in the fitment of front bench seat. The latest spyshots of S101 reveals bench seats for the front row, and new images have surfaced that showcase an innovative 3+3 seat configuration.
Car companies in India are analyzing theories of innovation visible on design, engine technology and interior architecture. The auto market went through a slowdown phase for two continuous years, the market sentiment weakened and the effect of inflation was visible on commodity and fuel prices. It is thereby a challenge to attract buyers, who are pressurized by the weakened macro economy. The new tactic is the best way to grab significant customer attention. The fitment of front bench seat in the Mahindra S101 is intriguing, and so is the 3+3 seat configuration. The vision to promote sales is to increase urban mobility, but Mahindra has however not used that approach and has decided to go the traditional way and has created something new. The Mahindra S101 is a sub four meter car, and the styling inspiration is derived from the bigger XUV500.
If there is a bench seat in front, then what about the flexible gear box movement. The gear box is differently arranged and pops out of the dashboard and what about the position of emergency or hand brake lever, and seat belt for middle passenger. The interior framework is unique from any sport utility vehicle; the styling of the bonnet is molded into a clamshell structure. The true identity of the Mahindra S101 is the two box design, and the only issue here is the interior room is not on par with others vehicles in this segment. Mahindra has not exposed the engine options for the S101; reports suggest that it will be powered by an efficient three cylinder petrol mill, developed in collaboration with Ssangyong. Mahindra has decided to use a competitive pricing strategy, the expected starting price range is Rs 6 lakhs, and the cost of the top-end variant will be around Rs 8.5 lakhs, which makes it more affordable than the Ford EcoSport.
The expected launch date is sometime in 2015, and we`re not sure of how buyers will react with the mere thought of riding a compact SUV that can accommodate three occupants in front. It has not happened before, S101 surely has an edge over its competition, and it is already ahead of the EcoSport in terms of price.
Competitors: Ford Ecosport
Expected Price: 6 – 8.5 lakhs
