Scoop : Bumblebee in India; Chevy imports the Camaro for R&D purposes
Till date, not a single car manufacturer has introduced a muscle car into the Indian car market. The only reason to blame is the insanely high import and customs tax, which makes the car almost double its retail price. In spite of this a lot of affluent people have gone ahead and bought their cars (exotics have been imported into the country since years).
Spy shots of the “Spin” MPV, imported from South East Asia, testing in Gujarat were seen online. As per reports Chevrolet has imported the Camaro SS to the country for R&D purposes. The SS is a typical American muscle car. The car is powered by a massive 6.2 litre V8 engine thrashing out 426 BHP and 567 Nm of torque via a 6-speed manual transmission box.
The car is a left hand drive, which confirms it is a CBU unit imported into the country. These are all tell-tale signs that Chevrolet is seriously considering introducing the icon into the Indian market. Though the launch shouldn’t be expected anytime soon, it could easily take up to 4 years.
If this news hasn’t got you as excited as you should be, a little birdie tells us that Ford plans to launch the ‘Mustang soon. We can expect a lot of burning rubber in action if what we hear is true!
