Ahead of its launch on February 2nd, Royal Enfield has unveiled teaser videos and images of its yet to be launched Himalayan adventure tourer on the company`s official website. With an aim to create a buzz, which it has clearly done; the video shows CS Santhosh, India`s motocross rally champion, testing and expressing his views on the off-road superbike in the middleweight category. The video has been filmed at Big Rock Motopark, Kolar, Karnataka where CS Santhosh is seen riding India’s first powerful dual purpose machine on a rocky terrain and looks visibly pleased with its performance. In the video CS Santhosh says the RE Himalayan is undoubtedly powerful but isn’t aggressive.

The makers have not revealed anything about the Himalayan`s specifications, but it is expected to get its juice from a 410cc, single cylinder oil-cooled motor. The engine is expected to bang out 25bhp of power along with 32Nm of twisting force. The bike features advanced tech in the form of a counter balancer and overhead cams, not push rods to reduce the vibrations and noise levels of the engine. The Himalayan has a strong mid-range, thereby making it a free revving machine. Siddhartha Lal CEO of Royal Enfield has disclosed a lot of information about the upcoming Himalayan in his promotional material on the adventure tourer. The bike will not require frequent oil changes and will need a change only once the speedo reads 10,000 kms.

The cruiser will generate more usable power at low rpms, which is characteristic trait of RE bikes. Another important aspect which has been revealed is its on-road ability as the motorbike is also quite track focused and remains glued to the road. RE Himalayan offers a perfect seating position, front forks having ample travel which will enable riders to tackle any terrain without any hassle. Royal Enfield Himalayan unlike its siblings gets a big 21-inch front wheel. Rumoured to make a debut on Feb 2, 2016, what still isn’t clear is whether it’s just an unveiling or an official launch.
