Royal Enfield Himalayan spied in production ready avatar with accessories
The next two-wheeler from Royal Enfield will be the Himalayan. The bike has been spied on various occasions’ right from its test runs, all the way to the production line. This has helped us know what it will actually look like in flesh. Just prior to its launch in the country, the Himalayan has been completely spied once again.
The model pictured is finished in white featuring a host of accessories that Royal Enfield will offer as optional. Accessories seen includes two fuel cans on either side at the front, which are placed on separate mounts for the same. Then there are the big side panniers finished in black and silver. Other than these, the bike is seen sporting round rear view mirrors, a monoshock suspension at the rear, new swingarm setup, a somewhat flat and wide handlebar and a rectangular taillight unit.
The Chennai based manufacturer will be entering the touring class for the first time and hence the company is doing everything within its power to make it a valuable proposition with various first seen RE characteristics. On the mechanical front, the Royal Enfield Himalayan will be powered by a new 410cc, single-cylinder engine that is expected to output around 30 bhp of power and 32 Nm of torque. The engine will be free revving and more refined thanks to the usage of overhead cams instead of the usual push rods.
Price for the bike could range between Rs. 1.60 – 1.90 lakhs (ex-showroom). As Royal Enfield motorcycles are anyway known for their touring capabilities, the Himalayan will definitely take up the ante on the same domain. It will also become the only touring bike in its class which should help it find a good number of customers.
While adventure enthusiasts have relied on more expensive offerings from companies like Benelli, Triumph, Kawasaki and the lot, the Royal Enfield Himalayan could just be the right product for them. The bike could also find its way to various international markets via the export route.
