Renault`s small car Kwid arrives at dealership stockyards
The highly anticipated Renault Kwid which is expected to launch next month, has started arriving at a few select dealerships in the country. The company has also started bookings for the vehicle and customers can pre-book the car for a sum of Rs. 25,000 which is refundable.
The Renault Kwid is a global model which is based on the new CMF-A platform which will spawn many other future products from the auto maker. Measuring 3,679mm in length, 1,579mm in width and with a wheelbase of 2,423mm, the Kwid weighs just 660 Kgs. To give it an aggressive price tag the car has been heavily localized (98%), and it is manufactured at the Renault-Nissan plant in Chennai.
Powering the car is a 799cc, 3-cylinder petrol motor that churns out 54 PS of power and 74 Nm of twisting force. Power is channelized to the front wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. Thanks to its light body weight, the Renault Kwid delivers a mileage of 25.17 kmpl, making it the most fuel efficient petrol car in the country.
The car will be launched in four variants namely – Standard, RXE, RXL and RXT. The top of the line kwid will come with segment leading features like a 7 inch infotainment player and a satellite- navigation system. The car will also sport a digital instrument cluster, a first of its kind in the segment.
With the launch of the Renault Kwid expected to happen in October, buyers will have one more option to choose from other than the ageing Maruti Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon. Expected to be priced between Rs. 3 to 4 lakhs, this new small car from Renault has all the ingredients to become a hit in the Indian market.
