Renault Lodgy vs Toyota Innova : Spec comparo
With the increase in demand for Multi-Purpose Vehicle`s in the country, almost every automaker is trying its best to compete with the rest by launching new products. However, from years, Toyota Innova being the benchmark model in this segment has a new competitor in the form of the Renault Lodgy. The Renault Lodgy gives a good first impression and could knock off the Toyota Innova from its top position. With a spacious cabin, decent looks and a competitive price tag, the Lodgy MPV could pose a serious threat to the Innova. Here is the spec comparison of the Renault Lodgy vs Toyota Innova.
The Lodgy MPV not only looks different from other vehicles in the segment, but Renault has also provided an extensive feature list (top-spec trim) which includes a touchscreen infotainment system with USB and AUX support, Bluetooth, reverse parking camera and the works. All the three rows of the car get individual AC vents. Behind the front seats, one can open the folding tray, which has especially been designed for the Indian market. The second row of the Lodgy comes with the option of a caption seat in the seven seater model. The Toyota Innova also comes with similar interiors and features list. Moreover, both the MPVs offer ABS and airbags as safety features, though Innova gets the latter one as a standard feature on its base trim.
Talking about the Dimensions, Innova wins the race among all the vehicles in this segment, but the Renault Lodgy is not far behind and occupies the second position. But in terms of wheelbase, the newly launched Renault Lodgy MPV tops the chart here with 2,810 mm, which means more space inside the cabin.
In terms of seating capacity, both the MPV`s comes with 7/8 seating options, but with the seats not folded down, the Innova`s luggage loading capacity is 300 litres while that of the Lodgy is 281 litres.
The Renault Lodgy is powered by a 1.5-litre K9K diesel mill churning out 108.5 BHP and 245 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful MPV of the lot. The Toyota Innova occupies the second spot on the list in terms of power output followed by the Mobilio and Ertiga.
In terms of fuel efficiency, definitely the winner is Renault Lodgy with its attractive mileage figures of 21.04 kmpl and 19.98 kmpl for the 85PS and 110PS respectively.
Comparing the top end variants of both the SUVs, Toyota Innova is priced higher by Rs 3-4 lakhs, which is not a small amount. The top spec Innova at Rs 16 lakhs is quite expensive when you can purchase the top end variant of the Renault Lodgy for Rs 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) for the 110PS version.
Till date, none of the MPVs could match the Toyota Innova, but guess what, the Lodgy could prove to be a winner for Renault in India. The Renault Lodgy not only proves to match the segment leader in terms of space and looks, but even in its mileage and pricing which are the two most important factors for the Indian consumer to decide which car to opt for.
