Renault Kwid bookings in India commence from Rs. 25,000, launch next month

Renault Kwid 05

Probably one of the most awaited car to be launched in the country this year, the Renault Kwid budget hatchback is drawing closer to a debut in the Indian market. In what might become the company’s best ever product to go on sale in our country, Kwid has the potential to leave elder brother Duster behind in the overall sales front in the coming future.

The Renault Kwid`s launch in India is expected to happen next month. Few Renault dealerships in certain cities have already started accepting bookings for the hatchback. One can book the Kwid for Rs. 25,000/-, which is a refundable amount.

Based on the CMF-A platform of the Renault-Nissan alliance, the Kwid has the potential to become very successful thanks to its big-car feel. The front-end design takes inspiration from the Duster with a unique grille and a distinguished front bumper. The rear end looks very good as well and the small yet well designed taillights giving a the rear end bullish looks.

The interior gets various segment first features including the likes of a touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster and much more. Other basic features includes a power steering, music system, power windows, air-conditioning unit, etc. Overall, the Kwid comes across as a very good alternative to the Maruti Alto, Hyundai Eon and Datsun GO. The hatch will also carry a localization level of 98 percent that will enable Renault to price the Kwid very competitively as well.

At the time of launch, the Kwid will derive around 57 BHP of power from an 800cc three-cylinder petrol engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. At a later stage, Renault will give the vehicle a bigger 1.0-litre engine with the choice of an AMT unit. The entry-level hatchback should be priced from Rs. 3 lakhs (ex-showroom) onwards with prices going up to Rs. 4.5 lakhs (ex-showroom).
