Renault India to launch 4-wheel drive Duster in September
French car maker Renault is planning to launch the Duster 4*4 model in Indian in the month of September. The Duster has been Renault`s flagship model in India and has been a roaring success in India within the compact SUV space. The 4-wheel drive variant of the Duster is available in international markets and is sold under the Dacia brand.
When launched in India the 4-wheel drive Duster will be powered by the familiar K9K 1.5 litre oil burner which pumps out 110bhp mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. While the 4-wheel drive variant will be launched in India only in diesel guise, it is available in both petrol and diesel variants globally. There will be three driving modes to choose from on the 4*4 model.
The range topping 4-wheel drive variant will feature a touch-screen infotainment system, 2-DIN stereo system, keyless entry, steering-mounted controls, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, rear air con vents, dual airbags and emergency brake assist. When launched in September the 4-wheel drive variant is expected to be priced at a premium of Rs 80,000 over the existing top-end variant. The 4-wheel drive model will directly compete with the likes of Mahindra Scorpio 4*4 and Tata Safari 4*4 models.
The Duster was always a very capable performer, but in the 4-wheel drive guise it would appeal even more to off-roading enthusiasts.
