Renault Duster facelift spied testing once again
Renault’s success story in India can be attributed to the Duster SUV that was introduced in the country back in 2012. The Duster actually created the compact SUV segment in the country and it became a runaway success in no time. However, the SUV has aged now and capable rivals in the same segment are giving it a very tough time.
The French car maker should be launching the 2015 Renault Duster facelift in India towards the end of this year and the facelift has been undergoing testing in the country for a while now. One such test mule has been spied testing once again. Though completely camouflaged, the test mule can be seen riding on a new set of alloy wheels. The taillights carry a new LED setup, with a strip running from top to bottom in the shape of an ‘S’.
Other changes includes a new set of headlights, new front grille and reworked bumpers, even though these are not visible to the naked eyes. In what is expected to be a much needed change, the interiors of the Renault Duster facelift will be updated, as the current model has often been criticised for its not so good interior quality.
The same 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine which outputs 86 PS and 110 PS of power will power the upcoming model as well. The engine will be mated to a new 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with the Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) system, which is nothing but a low ratio mode. However, this new setup will only be offered with the two-wheel drive variants at the time of launch.
With the facelift, Renault will be hoping for the Duster to get back at its game and find a good number of buyers once again when launched in the country. This can only be possible if the company works on the vehicle’s weak points, thereby improving them.
