Refreshed Suzuki Hayate launched in India at Rs. 59,523
The entry-level commuter motorcycle segment has long been dominated by the country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero. The company has left every other manufacturer biting the dust in the same segment. Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer, Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited has been somewhat silent in this domain by not launching new and updated products off-late.
However, to fight off Hero and gain more sales in the very potent commuter segment, Suzuki has just launched the new or refreshed Hayate commuter motorcycle in the country priced at Rs. 59,523 (on-road, Mumbai) to give its sales a push in the upcoming festive season.
The new Suzuki Hayate does not feature any major changes on the design front as compared to its predecessor. The updates include the addition of new body decals, body coloured side panels, tubeless tyres, maintenance free battery and a 5-step adjustable rear shock absorber.
All the aforementioned updates make the Hayate look fresher and much smarter as well. Suzuki is offering the new model with five colour options. On the mechanical front, the bike derives 8.3 BHP and 8.8 Nm of torque from an 112.8cc single-cylinder petrol engine.
Overall, the Suzuki Hayate has always been a very capable motorcycle. But it hasn’t been able to sell in big numbers given that Suzuki has not marketed it at a decent level to make buyers aware of its capabilities.
Suzuki will be hoping to increase its market share given the arrival of the festive season which takes many customers across the country to dealerships for purchasing new vehicles. The company will soon be updating its other products in the country on similar lines.
