Land Rover recently launched the Discovery Sport in India. It has got off to a pretty good start in the country and many are lining up to take a look at the SUV. Following up quickly, Land Rover has now launched the Range Rover Sport SVR in India as well. The performance oriented Sport SUV has been priced at Rs. 2.12 crores (ex-showroom).

The Sport SVR is special for the British car maker in many ways. Firstly, this has become the first vehicle from the stable to get the ‘SVR’ badging and secondly, it’s also the first vehicle which is tuned by the ‘Special Vehicle Operations’ division of Land Rover. Adding on, the SUV has lapped the famous Nurburgring in just 8 minutes and 14 seconds, thereby making it the fastest production SUV to do so.

The Range Rover Sport SVR derives power from a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol motor that churns out a superb 550 PS of power, 680 Nm of torque and comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Capable of reaching a top speed of 260 km/hr, the Range Rover can complete the 0-100 km/hr run in just 4.7 seconds.

On the visual front, the aggressive looking SUV gets black cladding on the bonnet along with a blacked out front grille. The front bumper is new featuring big air dams and the rear end also gets a new diffuser with quad exhaust pipes that give out an amazing sound thanks to the Active Sports Exhaust. The roof is finished in contrasting black colour and the same treatment has been carried over to the massive 21-inch alloy wheels as well. The interiors carry forward the sporty profile very well with a customisable black and white colour scheme. The seats have been replaced by sport ones that can keep you in place very well.

To handle all that performance under the hood, the suspension has been made stiffer. Not just is this a very fast car, it also is a very capable off-roader. Being a Land Rover, it has a ground clearance of 213mm and a water wading capacity of up to 850mm. Competing with the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GLE63 and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, the Range Rover Sport SVR is a very good option to consider in India.
