The Range Rover Evoque convertible when launched will be the first convertible launched by Range rover. The Evoque cabriolet first made its debut at the 2012 Geneva auto show. After the car was unveiled at the auto show, the news completely went underground. Recently spy shots of the Evoque testing have been spotted online, indicating the car is nearly production ready.

The chopped down version of the Evoque will be based on the 3-seater coupe model. Though the car showcased at the auto show didn’t exactly look like a concept, there was still some work JLR had on its hands. The clip on fabric roof has been replaced by an electronic folding system for the soft top. Externally the car doesn’t seem to have gone under the knife, though there might be a few changes in the final model. Online reports suggests, the current 2.2 Liter diesel engine might get replaced with the new 2.0 Liter –ingenium diesel motor, recently unveiled with the Jaguar XE sedan.

How this chopped version of the car makes a dent in the market only time will tell. No official release date has been confirmed, but the car is expected to make its debut at the 2015 Goodwill festival of speed.
