Production spec Suzuki iM-4 compact SUV revealed through patent images
Maruti Suzuki is trying hard to get going in the very potent compact SUV segment. Having a very good potential, the compact SUV space is only set to grow given the rise in favouritism towards big passenger vehicles. The company recently launched the S-Cross crossover (in India) in order to get going in the segment and will soon be coming up with a proper compact SUV as well.
The latest compact (‘mini’ rather) SUV from the Japanese car maker seems to have been revealed owing to leaked patent images of the iM-4’s production model. In what can be called the production spec version, the images reveal everything about the upcoming vehicle on the design front.
Few of the visible design characteristics includes smaller wheels (when compared to the Suzuki iM-4 concept), conventional set of headlights and a single chrome strip running across from one end of the grille to the other. The side profile gets a stylish yet not such a busy looking design. The rear profile on the other hand loses out on the roof mounted spoiler as seen on the concept.
The production version of the iM-4 is expected to roll out of the company’s international factories by the end of next year. Under its hood will most likely be the new 1.0-litre turbocharged, three-cylinder petrol motor or the 1.2-litre DualJet engine that is found on the international Swift model.
It remains unclear till now as to whether this model will make its way to India or not, though the latter seems more likely. Till then let’s hope that the YBA compact SUV is introduced in the market at the earliest.
