Production of Suzuki Baleno commences at Maruti’s Manesar plant
The next product which is all set to make competition in the premium hatchback segment even hotter, the Suzuki Baleno will be making its debut not only in India, but also in international markets. The hatchback will be the company`s next move in the premium car market after launching the Ciaz sedan and the S-Cross crossover.
The Baleno’s launch seems to be nearing as we speak and its production has already commenced at Maruti’s plant in Manesar, Haryana, prior to its international reveal at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show this month. Pictures from the facility revealing the same have just gone viral. The upcoming hatchback is very similar to the iK-2 concept on which it is based on the visual front. The model seen in the pictures seems to be an export spec vehicle. This directly signifies that the company will be exporting the initial lot of the Baleno.
The Baleno will derive power from the newly developed 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol and the 1.2-litre petrol engine. Diesel power will come in form of the well-known 1.3-litre MultiJet unit or through a 1.5-litre mill that has been developed by the country’s leading car maker in-house. The 1.3-litre unit will come with the SHVS hybrid technology.
On the feature front, it will be equipped with the likes of a touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted audio controls, engine start-stop button, ABS with EBD, keyless entry, electrically foldable and adjustable side view mirrors, two airbags at the front, reversing parking sensors and the lot.
The Baleno will carry a different name in our country and it will be launched in the beginning of 2016. The hatchback will be retailed from the company’s premium range of Nexa showrooms when launched.
